UniCredit appoints Amit Dewan as head of Financing & Advisory for the Asia Pacific Region
UniCredit announced that Amit Dewan has been appointed to the newly created position of head of Financing & Advisory for the Asia Pacific Region, reporting to Michele Amadei, head of the Asia Pacific Region, effective 1 July 2016.
Mr. Dewan will relocate from London to Singapore to lead Financing & Advisory in Asia Pacific with responsibility for debt capital markets, equity capital markets, corporate finance advisory, export finance and natural resources in the region.
The appointment follows the strengthening of UniCredit’s international network of foreign branches and representative offices, including in Asia Pacific where the renewed focus on the region has allowed the bank to act on landmark deals between Asia and Europe. This includes acting as sole global coordinator in bank facilities backing the largest ever acquisition by a Chinese company in Germany – ChemChina's EUR 925 million acquisition of KraussMaffei Group, bookrunner and mandated lead arranger for the USD 20 billion loan backing ChemChina’s acquisition of Syngenta, and as part of the financing consortium backing ChemChina’s USD 7.7 billion acquisition of Pirelli.
UniCredit’s focus in the Asia Pacific Region is to support its European clients with their investment and trade activities in the region as well as to accompany Asian clients in their development strategy and business initiatives in western, central and eastern Europe. The bank is active in Asia Pacific through branches in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan as well as representative offices in Beijing, Hanoi, Mumbai and Seoul.
Mr. Dewan previously managed the lending team within Infrastructure and Power Project Finance at UniCredit, based in London, and prior to that worked in various other roles in Financing & Advisory including in project finance and corporate finance. Before joining UniCredit in 2007, Mr. Dewan worked at Bank of Scotland and ANZ Investment Bank in the UK and Asia.
