Societe Generale announces senior appointments in global finance business

Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Gore as Head of Shipping & Offshore Finance for Asia Pacific and Gareth Williams as Head of Loan Syndicate and Sales for Asia Pacific, effective from 1 May.

Based in Hong Kong, David Gore will report to Sadia Ricke, Head of Global Finance for Asia Pacific, and Paul Taylor, Global Head of Shipping Finance. David Gore will manage the Asia Pacific Shipping Finance team with an objective to originate and execute a range of Structured Finance to the shipping and offshore sectors. He will leverage on Societe Generale’s global expertise in financing, advisory and capital markets, to further grow the Bank’s franchise in project and structured finance in Asia Pacific.

David Gore will replace Gareth Williams, who will take up a new role as Head of Loan Syndicate and Sales for Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Gareth Williams will report to Sadia Ricke, Head of Global Finance for Asia Pacific, and Terence Shanahan, Global Head of Syndicate.

In his new role, Gareth Williams will manage the Loan Syndicate and Sales team in Asia Pacific, advising on the best possible execution in terms of pricing and structure. His mandate will also involve originating, managing loan positions and ensuring efficient loan distribution in a context of a growing trend for distribution. Gareth Williams will replace Jose-Antonio Olano, who will start a new role as Managing Director, Cross Business Development in London on 1 May.

The Shipping Finance and Loan Syndicate & Sales teams have successfully completed a number of deals over the years, including the project financing of two LNG vessels for BW Pavilion and the financing of six Newcastlemax dry bulk vessels for China State Shipbuilding Corporation in 2015. Both teams will continue to provide added value solutions and support clients in their long-term development.

Biographies:

David Gore

David was previously a Managing Director in the Energy Finance & Advisory team of Natural Resources & Infrastructure in Hong Kong, a role he has held since January 2014. He has worked with Societe Generale in Asia Pacific for the past 20 years across Energy, Project and Asset Finance. Prior to joining Societe Generale, David worked in Project Finance for Paribas in Singapore and National Australia Bank in Australia.

Gareth Williams

Before relocating to Hong Kong as Head of Shipping & Asset Based Finance for Asia Pacific in May 2014, Gareth was Head of LNG Shipping & Offshore in London since the beginning of 2009.

Gareth had previously worked in the Bank’s Asset Based Finance team from 2000 where he implemented a number of structured finance transactions on a range of assets, focusing on maritime assets, aircraft and rolling stock.
Prior to joining Societe Generale, Gareth qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG where he worked in the audit, management consultancy and project finance functions.
