SeaTown raises capital from private investors for its private capital fund for the first time

5 min read

Temasek-backed investment manager SeaTown Holdings International is raising funds for its Private Capital fund from private investors for the first time. In a bid to target mass affluent investors in Singapore, they have partnered with digital wealth management platform Kristal.AI to fractionalize the minimum investment quantum.

This partnership marks the first opportunity for private investors to gain unique access to Temasek and SeaTown’s deal flow. Investors will be able to participate with a minimum investment from as low as $100,000. Accredited Investors from the mass affluent segment can now access a premium product traditionally reserved for HWNIs and institutional investors.

“We have seen rapidly rising demand for private equity and private market products in recent years. This used to be an exclusive space for institutional investors, but now technology and platforms have enabled individual investors to participate in such deals as well. By fractionalizing and reducing the minimum investment, a much larger client pool can now access premium investment products, and better diversify their investment portfolios.” said Vivek Mohindra, Co-founder of Kristal.AI. “We’re glad to see bigger funds like SeaTown responding to the market’s growing demand by democratizing the access to much sought-after investment products.”

SeaTown is a Singapore-based investment manager focused on alternative, absolute return strategies. SeaTown manages multi-asset and public credit strategies through open-end funds as well as private investments strategies through closed-end funds. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seviora Holdings, and indirectly owned by Temasek Holdings.

SeaTown’s partnership with Kristal presents private investors with unique access to Temasek and SeaTown’s deal flow. Temasek and SeaTown have committed US$1 billion to this fund, and SeaTown targets another $200-300 million from external investors. The fund is geographically diversified but retains a focus on Asia.
