KUALA LUMPUR - CIMB Group (“the Group” or “CIMB”) yesterday announced that CIMB Thai Bank PCL ("CIMB Thai") has obtained approval from Bank of Thailand for the appointment of Kittiphun Anutarasoti as President/CEO of CIMB Thai. He will be taking over from Subhak Siwaraksa who has expressed his wish to retire.
Kittiphun Anutarasoti will be joining the Group as President/CEO on 19 October 2016. Plans are already in place to ensure a smooth leadership transition from Subhak Siwaraksa, whose seven-year tenure as President/CEO of the Bank saw him resolving various legacy issues and subsequently placing CIMB Thai on a new strategic path.
A Thai national, Kittiphun Anutarasoti brings with him a wealth of corporate banking experience, having served in various key business positions in Thailand with three global banks and two of the largest Thai banks. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and an MBA from Saint Louis University, USA.
Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group said, “Kittiphun’s appointment is both timely and strategic as CIMB re-positions its banking business in Thailand, one of our key markets in the region. His 24-year banking experience bodes well for CIMB Thai and I am confident that he will add great value to our franchise in Thailand and to the Group. The management team and I look forward to working closely with Kittiphun in spearheading our plans for the Thai market as part of our T18 Strategy.”
