Best Retail Bank in Asia Pacific is China Construction Bank

  • This winning bank achieved strong overall performance, especially in process, technology and customer experience. Its fintech strategy TOP+2.0 in 2022, took it from building its own financial platforms to becoming an orchestrator of a large close-looped financial ecosystem. 
  • With 98%+ of its platforms and applications running on cloud, the bank has drove one of the largest retail customer bases in the region, with the lowest cost-to-income ratio at around 23%. In 2022, the bank achieved record growth for its retail  asset under management and deposits, while maintaining the largest market share in mortgage, personal loans and credit card balance. As retail revenue grew by 7% in the first half of 2022 with return on equity of at return on equity of 14% while its retail non-performing loan ratio stood low at 0.4%.
  • In the 2023 Bank Quality survey by The Asian Banker, the winning bank ranked top in the region with its digital offering underserved customer groups with engagement multiplying by eight times compared to 2022.
