29 September 2021 – The Bank of England (BoE) and HM Treasury announced the membership of the central bank digital currency (CBDC) Engagement and Technology Forums on 29 September. The Engagement Forum will help the BoE and HM Treasury understand the practical challenges of designing, implementing and operating a CBDC, while the Technology Forum will help the BoE to understand the technological challenges. Members include PayPal, Monzo, Starling, Checkout.com, ConsenSys, R3, Visa and Mastercard, among others.
