Chartsiri Sophonpanich and Bangkok Bank recognised as Best CEO and Best Managed Bank in Thailand
Under his leadership, Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank has doubled its international branch network. It has an international network of 310 branches in 14 economies with more than 900 correspondent banks worldwide.
Bangkok Bank is the largest in Thailand by asset size and has the largest market share in the corporate banking and international banking segments. The bank’s international network has accounted for 25% of total loans, enables the bank to diversify portfolio geographically and gain more exposure to high growth markets.
One of Sophonpanich’s personal milestones is the $2.7 billion acquisition of Indonesia’s Bank Permata. It was not only the largest acquisition in the bank’s history, but was also the largest intra-ASEAN bank acquisition.
Sophonpanich also accelerated the Bangkok Bank’s digital transformation and broke new ground in areas such as enterprise blockchain for trade finance, a new digital platform to digitise end-to-end from the procurement to payment process and real-time cross border cash management and payments. For individual customers, he has guided the bank to focus on the flagship mobile banking application as part of mobile first strategy.
Under his leadership, Bangkok Bank is also recognised as the Best Managed Bank in Thailand.
The CEO Leadership Achievement for Thailand Award goes to President of Bangkok Bank, Chartsiri Sophonpanich.
