Vietcombank has demonstrated superior asset quality, robust profitability, and enhanced capitalisation

Vietcombank was recognised as the Strongest Bank in Vietnam as part of the World’s 1000 Strongest Banks ranking. This ranking evaluates the largest 1000 banks globally by asset size, focusing on their financial strength. It uses a detailed and transparent scorecard to assess banks across six balance sheet-related criteria: scale, balance sheet growth, risk profile, profitability, asset quality, and liquidity, covering 14 specific factors.
The bank has consistently demonstrated outstanding asset quality, maintaining the lowest non-performing loan (NPL) ratio and the highest provision coverage ratio among Vietnamese banks. Its NPL ratio stood at 1% in 2023, significantly below the industry average of 1.8%.
Additionally, Vietcombank improved its capitalisation and maintained solid profitability, reporting the highest net profit among local peers. It achieved a return on assets of 1.9% and a return on equity of 22% in 2023, surpassing industry averages of 1.5% and 19%, respectively.
