The awards ceremony was held in conjunction withThe Excellence in Retail Financial Services Convention 2019at Conrad Dubai, U.A.E on March 21st, 2019.

The National Bank of Egyptexhibited strong financial performance in 2018
The bank has madestrides in financial inclusion, focusing on nourishing SME sector development and reaching out to customer segments in less developed regions. The bank’s retail business contributed over a third of the bank’s total income, with healthy growth for personal loans, and a low NPL ratio of under 0.5%. Deposit balances grew by over 40%, while its mortgage portfolio doubled in size in 2018. The bank also caters to almost half of Egypt’s SME market.
Clear focus on technology and digitisation for its branch and ATM network to improve customer experience
With customer self-service at the core of its digitisation strategy, the bank launched a fully electronic servicing branch with minimal human intervention, enabling prompt services which save time and effort. The bank also launched interactive teller machines which allow direct contact with the bank’s customer service representatives for customer inquiries, card-free deposits at ATMs, and payments using QR codes.

The bank launched its new internet banking portaland is upgrading its mobile application, acquiring over 10% of its retail customer base by offering convenient and secured banking services. The bank has also collaborated with the Egyptian Government to work on a solution to approve digital KYC and will continue strengthening its e-services, through investments in data centres and an emphasis on digital archiving.
