A special-purpose vehicle company established to set-up a renewable energy project was looking for $800m of Letter of Creditfacilities for procurement for the construction and operation of a 400 megawatts round-the-clock capacity project comprising wind, solar and battery storage in the Indian states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka in India.

The bank met the requirements and expectations of pension fund lenders, customers, legal teams, and central bank regulations, which demonstrated the bank’s strong focus on sustainable financing in the region. It is the first pre-construction facility secured by back-stop from pension-fund lenders through legally vetted arrangements.

For demonstrating the ability to work on complex structures in the renewables space and close more ESG transactions, the award for Best Corporate Trade Finance Deal in India goes to Deutsche Bank and Surya Roshni (ReNew).
