Sanjay Chakrabarty is the head of retail banking for OCB. He moved to Vietnam 6 years ago to be the CEO of Prudential Finance. He also worked in Prudential Vietnam Assurance as chief commercial officer before moving to OCB. Before Vietnam, Sanjay spent many years working in Citibank across geographies. His most notable stints with Citi were in Korea and Japan spanning 10 years where he got the opportunity to work in different aspects of retail finance leveraging the highly developed technology infrastructure of these markets. Now with over 22 years of experience in both developed and emerging markets, Sanjay is focused on working technology enabled product and process platforms that lead to clear customer value proposition. He is a growth hacker who can identify transformative opportunities in diverse markets and then execute against them.
Michelle Weatherhead has over 18 years of global industry expertise specialising in the domains of AML compliance, fraud, financial crime and cyber security solutions. She is driven to facilitate the development of safe global communities with technology. In her current role as GBG’s operations director, APAC she spearheads customer success through a variety of initiatives spanning new solutions development, partner alliance development and professional services engagement. She has first-hand experience working with clients from around the world; assisting them in their quest to protect customers and employees, defend against cyber fraud attack and comply with AML/CTF obligations. She’s based in Melbourne, Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Gunneet Singh Bally is currently managing cards business for VPBank which is one of the fastest-growing, listed & profitable private banks in Vietnam. Gunneet has a multidimensional role that involves maintaining a large running business and proactively navigating it through a period of intensive disruption and evolution in the payments area. He has more than twenty years’ experience, across various economies from the Middle East to South East Asia with leading organizations like American Express, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, and Al Khaliji. He has participated in developing and driving the retail banking strategy for the banks, including developing national physical footprint plans, sharing strategic thought leadership across the division along with the senior management team.
Tran Nhat Minh is currently the deputy CEO and chief information officer at Vietnam International Bank (VIB). He oversees both digital banking and information technology implementation and strategy deliveries. He has delivered a number of high profile initiatives for the bank making VIB one of the pioneers in developing digital banking and open collaboration between Banks and Fintech in Vietnam. He is is an experienced digital banking and IT leader with more than twenty years’ track record in developing and executing digital and IT strategies. He has proven ability and skills to define and manage innovative business models, digital strategic framework, IT architecture and data analysis.
Dr. Nguyen Toan Thang is the secretary general of Vietnam Banks Association. He began his career in 1979 in State Bank of Vietnam and held different key positions in various areas such as bank credit, monetary policy, research, training, and many more. Dr. Thang was then in charge of IT and payment system in SBV for a long period of time. He was the deputy governor of State Bank of Vietnam before joining Vietnam Banks’ Association in July 2016 as secretary general.
Richard Hartung is currently managing director of Transcarta and international resource director of The Asian Banker with over 20 years of experience in the payments & consumer financial services industry. He has held senior roles for financial institutions including Citibank, Mastercard International, and OCBC Cards. Mr. Hartung is a consultant in the areas of retail banking, cards and payment products to financial institutions, service providers, and software companies throughout the Asia Pacific region.
David Hardoon is an expert in the field of artificial intelligence and has been leading organisations’ analytics and data transformations using Data Art and Data Science. He holds on to the vision in creating a sustainable data culture where data is everyone’s equity. He has extensive expertise in developing and applying analytical models for business knowledge discovery and analysis. During his tenure at Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), he spearheaded efforts to harness the power of data analytics to unlock insights, enhance the supervision of financial institutions, and make regulatory compliance more efficient for financial institutions. In his early carrier he co-founded Azendian Solutions, where he was responsible for the advanced analytics practice, serving clients across business sectors in Asia. He is currently an honorary senior research associate at the Centre for Computational Statistics & Machine Learning, University College London.
Fred Lim is Executive Director and Country Head of Retail Banking for UOB Vietnam (UOBV). In this role, Lim is responsible for UOB’s consumer and business banking businesses in Vietnam. With over 20 years of experience spanning across Retail Banking, SME banking, Branches Division, Lim led in the strategy development and launch of target operating model of UOBV’s retail banking franchise. Leveraging on big data analytics and a digitally enabled business model, UOBV has successfully launched Biz Merchant, an unsecured working capital product to meet the needs of e-commerce merchants. This market leading initiative has also won the Financial Inclusion Award – Vietnam.
David Jiménez Maireles is Deputy Chief Digital Officer at MSB. He heads up MSB's efforts to launch a brand new, truly and disruptive digital bank in Vietnam. David was previously country head of Raisin in Spain where he launched the platform as well as lead growth efforts and forging key partnerships with multiple fintech companies and top financial institutions. David has also worked with two of the most innovative banks in the world: Banco Santander and ING. He helps companies to shape the future of banking by developing new strategies, partnerships, and products that are relevant to their customers. David is a dynamic public speaker and has been recognized as one of the top voices in FinTech by various companies and rankings since 2015.
